I hope I’m being simplistic here, but why, when Canadian doctors make such a phenomenal profit from healthcare, do so many of them react so negatively to the idea of a medical system that generates profit? Just a question.

Actually that raises a question. I was curious, in general, do the majority of docs in Canada support socialized health care or not?
I’m not sure what the majority is, but there are certainly quite a few who are very forcefully in favour of socialized health care, unadulterated by any other model. But then again, Dr. Brian Day, a strong supporter of some private insurance and founder of a private surgical facility, was recently elected by his peers to the presidency of the CMA. I’d say that most Canadian doctors agree that medicine should be universally available, and the difference is between those who think this can be achieved in a partly private system and those who don’t.
